DO THIS TO AVOID “BUDGET INSANITY"

You fed your family beans and rice - for crying out loud!

You worked that budget, cut expenses and focussed on kicking debt to the curb.

Becoming financially free IS the goal!

Like a sergeant major you got all your family troops on board. Even the cat had to tow the line.

You allocated every cent you earned to your budget. Every debt was paid. Not even a R5 coin was spared for a little something nice! You stuck to your guns for two whole weeks.

No fun, no pizza, no going out, not even a take away latte on the way to work.

It’s brutal!

....and then you hit a wall.

ALL RESISTANCE CRUMBLED!

You binged on take aways, and swiped your credit card for a night out on the town.

Even your toy-starved kiddie winkles experienced the joy of picking yet ANOTHER toy to add to their vast collection.

Where did it all go wrong???

Why on earth did you deprive your poor family of something that’ll keep them sane while you’re working your budget? YOU NEED FUN MONEY!

By all means throw everything you have at your debt and financial bucket list, BUT give yourself a sinking fund for FUN!

It'll help you stick to your budget, keep you from overspending, and stop you from swiping that darn credit card!

THIS IS HOW TO KEEP SANE AND STICK TO YOUR PLAN:

• Create a sinking fund for FUN AND ENTERTAINEMENT. You can call it what you like.

• Budget an amount of money to that fund every month.

• Divide that amount into the 4 weeks of the month to ensure that you have a weekly amount to enjoy.

• Draw the amount in cash and keep it in your fun money envelope (it will help you stick to your weekly fun budget).

If you prefer not to work with cash and you're disciplined with managing your money, make sure you only spend the allocated amount.

It's a great idea to track your spending on your spending tracker to make sure you don't go over budget.
